This is so potential students may assess their ability to complete the required assignments. As well, we wish to outline several important issues essential to the smooth running of Jubilee Training Institute and its relationship with students. 14.1 Personal Issues
In the case of an assignment raising personal issues which may involve hurt, pain, trauma or sadness, etc., we expect students to have the integrity and personal honesty to make an appointment and undertake appropriate ministry to assist resolving those issues. Your Supervisor is probably the right person for such ministry, or your pastor or another local counsellor, if you are studying a couselling course.14.2 Plagiarism:
Brief quotations from authors and other authorities on relevant subjects are permitted and encouraged in the writing of assignments, but the use of references from any source must be attributed. Failure to do so constitutes plagiarism, which is the submitting of any assignments with material copied from other source such as books, notes, downloading information from the Internet, photocopying of other student's work, etc. without attributing it to the source from which it came. Plagiarism is falsely claiming ownership and is a form of cheating. Jubilee Training Institute treats such instances very seriously to the point where a student may be dismissed without refund of fees. An appeal process is in place, however, if there are mitigating circumstances.14.3 Grievance, Appeal and Disciplinary Procedures
All concerns will be dealt with in a prompt and sensitive manner. Staff are available to discuss any student concerns. Should any student feel that an issue has not been dealt with effectively, a meeting will be arranged with that student, including the Dean, the Principal, and an independent representative. If the student is not satisfied with this decision, Jubilee Training Institute will call a meeting of The Grievances and Disciplinary committee, consisting of the Principal, the Dean, two Board members and two members of the Advisory Board. If the matter cannot be resolved amicably by this committee, the issue will be referred to a neutral body, with any costs incurred borne equally between Jubilee Training Institute and the Student. The purposes of The Grievances and Disciplinary committee will be to investigate all complaints on assessment marking, any allegations of plagiarism/cheating by students and any possible disciplinary matters relating to staff or students. Any grievance regarding assessments must be lodged within one month of the return of a marked assignment to the student. This does not circumscribe the student's right to pursue other legal remedies.Assignment Requirements:
15.1 One of the major goals of Jubilee Training Institute is to assist students to complete their course assignments so they can graduate. We desire to see people released into their callings and to minister effectively with competence, confidence and compassion.
15.2 Unless prior agreement is reached to do their course at a slower speed, (and acceptance of this will be confirmed in writing by the Dean) students are both encouraged and required to complete the basic minimum of written assignments each month . These must be received at the Jubilee Training Institute office by the first day of every month, except January, in hard copy (paper) form or by email. Assignments are now available on CD so students could take the option of sending in their assignments for marking by email. This option would be available in Microsoft Word. JTI will not be held responsible for students assignments which are sent in any other format than those listed above.
15.3 Courses have a fair and reasonable time limit on them for completion. Exceptions to this rule will require prior written agreement from the board, which will not unreasonably withheld if the circumstances are appropriate, (such as a period of bad health, etc.).
15.4 Every assignment will have a coloured cover sheet (supplied with manuals), which must be attached and completed prior to dispatch who are postingassignments to the Jubilee Training Institute office. These will be provided with the assignments. Late receipt of assignments will result in a 5% grading penalty per month, to a maximum of 15%. Any assignments not received within three months will be marked "Failed".
15.5 If a student is unhappy with the mark received for a particular assignment, they may request that the work be remarked. In such circumstances, the student must apply in writing to the Dean and return the original copy of the marked assignment. After the assignment has been remarked, if the student is still not satisfied with the outcome, they may make an official Appeal. An Appeal fee of $50 will be charged, and the student will be advised in writing of the outcome. If a mark is increased by 5% or more, the Appeal fee will be refunded. In the event of a significant changed mark, the Board will investigate the matter to ensure all students are marked equally and with integrity.
15.6 If a student experiences personal difficulties such as personal or family illness or accident, personal employment issues, or circumstances beyond their control, which prevent assignments being completed on time on any given month, they should notify the Dean immediately, and before the end of the month for which the assignments are due. Extension may then be granted (and recorded), depending on the circumstances. If the issue takes longer than one month to resolve, the student's referee, who is part of that student's spiritual accountability, should also report in writing to the Dean confirming the nature of the difficulty, and an estimate of how long this will take to resolve. If a student fails to forward completed assignments for three consecutive months, the Dean will advise in writing that the student is suspended from the course, pending a decision on whether the student should withdraw from the course. See clause 4.9 for Refund Policy.
15.7 To be successful with their studies, students should prepare a study schedule, with a regular time set aside on a weekly basis. Some may choose to complete the courses more quickly, subject to their interest or availability of time. It is recommended students read through each manual chapter or the text book first to obtain an overview of the topic; then read through them a second time, taking notes and drafting answers for assignments and test papers. Only when that is completed should the student commence work on the written assignments.
15.8 Each student is recommended to seek one or more prayer partners who will commit to pray regularly with them, regarding such issues as health, safety, retention of studied course materials, and also to cover practical work in prayer with confidentiality but without gossiping!!!
15.9 Subject to the successful completion of all assessments and providing all course fees have been fully paid, Jubilee Training Institute will award students with their enrolled award. If the student successfully completes a portion of any course but is unable to complete their studies they will receive a "Statement of Attainment".
15.10 Supplementary Assessments:
Students who fail an assignment will need to redo their work, and re-submit it. The Dean, the Principal and one other Board member may agree together to accept a re-submitted assignment, by a specified date and with a penalty payment of $25 per assignment to cover the costs associated with remarking, provided the student does not fail to forward other completed assignments by the normal deadlines.
15.11 Graduation Requirements:
10.1 This requires that all assignments, practical exercises, tests and reading be completed and marked; that signed confirmation be given by the student's supervisor and Jubilee Training Institute staff; and that all course fees paid in full. Your Diploma or Certificate will be presented at a formal Graduation Ceremony, or if this is not practical, students may have their Diplomas or Certificates presented in their church or community by prior arrangement.

Study Options
13.1 Students may commence their course studies at any time during the year that suits them. All courses involve practical exercises, assignments and test papers to determine the student's grasp of the subjects covered.13.2 Study and assignments can be at the student's own pace. Some may take longer than the recommended time, and others will complete their course more quickly. Jubilee Training Institute understands that sometimes circumstances arise (personal or family) which require time out. Students who need to pause their studies for one to two months (and not exceeding three) may do so, but are required to advise the Dean in writing in advance. This will be acknowledged in writing. Further extensions will be considered on their merits. Up to twelve months from the date of their original enrolment you may apply to recommence studies without financial penalty. After twelve months, a $100 re-enrolment fee will be charged.
13.3 Students are recommended to have access to the following useful tools, including a Bible, Concordance, Bible Dictionary, English Dictionary and Thesaurus to use to assist their study.
13.4Jubilee Training Institute has no preferred Bible version for students to use. However to provide balanced study and relevance of language, we do recommend one from each of the three major styles of Bible translations/paraphrases, as follows:
1. NKJV or KJV (Majority Text - word for word translation);
2. NIV, NASB (thought for thought translation);
3. CEV, Living, Amplified, Good News, etc. (modern language or paraphrase, especially useful for those for whom English is a second language)
Comparisons may then be made so balanced understanding may be reached, where these issues are appropriate. These resources will be especially essential for students doing a course in the School of Biblical Studies.
13.5 Essay-type assignments will be marked on the following criteria: * Composition (spelling, grammar, paragraphing, etc.) worth 10% * Theory of subject worth 40% * Application of subject information worth 50%
