Course Information

Introduction to Course Information

There are three courses presently available.
3.1 Jubilee Training Institute has two schools presently operating. Firstly is the School of Christian Counselling and Pastoral Care, and secondly is the School of Biblical Studies.

School of Christian Counselling
3.2 Jubilee Training Institute's most popular course has been the Diploma in Christian Counselling and Pastoral Care. Some people struggle with the self-discipline required with a longer Distance-learning course. To assist students with this, Jubilee Training Institute can now offer two paths to complete this Diploma. (This would also prepare students for the Post Graduate Diploma course - more about that shortly.)

You may either do the Diploma directly as one larger course; or you may choose from the five Certificates listed, completing them in any order and have time-out between them if required. These Certificates are all constituent parts of the Diploma. On successful completion of all five Certificates, your Diploma will be awarded to you automatically. Students may also opt to complete one or more certificate, if they choose.

3.3 Certificates (These form the Diploma when all five Certificates are completed)

Certificate in Bible-Centred Counselling (CB01) 224 hours, with 14 assignments.

Certificate in Marriage, Family & Parenting Counselling (CM02) 243.25 hours with 28 assignments.

Certificate in Emotional Wholeness Counselling (CE03) 250.75 hours with 18 assignments.

Certificate in Identity & Change Counselling (CI04) 247.75 hours, with 17 assignments.

Certificate in Disorders, Addictions & Cult Counselling (CD05) 242.5 hours, with 15 assignments.

With each course the goal is to complete and return for marking four assignments each month, with a minimum of three assignments expected each month, except January. These certificates should each be completed within 12 months of commencement.

3.4 Diploma in Christian Counselling and Pastoral Care (DCC01)
Course length: 30 months approx. (1200 hours)
There are 92 assignments.
The goal is four each month, with a minimum of three expected each month. This course should be completed within 36 months of commencement.

3.5 Post Graduate Diploma in Christian Counselling (PGD06)
Course length: 6 months approx.
There are 5 specialist ssignments. On successful completion of your Diploma in Christian Counselling and Pastoral Care, graduates may then apply for the Post Graduate Diploma in Christian Counselling. On final completion of both Diplomas, a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Counselling will then be granted by our Accredited Articulation Agreement with Destiny Christian University.

3.6 Certificate in People Caring Skills (CPC07)
Course length: 10 months approx. (400 hours)
There are 59 assignments. The goal is six each month, with a minimum of four expected each month. This course should be completed within 18 months of commencement. This is an abbreviated form of the Diploma course, covering at a lower level the full range of topics. It is especially designed for House/Home/Cell group leaders, to upskill them in a wide range of subjects.

School of Biblical Studies

3.7 Certificate in New Testament Studies (SBS01)
Course length: 10 months approx.
There are 47 assignments. The goal is five each month, with a minimum of three expected each month. This course should be completed within 18 months of commencement.

3.8 Diploma in Biblical Studies (SBS02)
Course length: 36 months approx.
There are 48 assignments. There are four semesters each year, with three subjects(each with 8 lerssons) being covered each semester. Assignments will usually involve two test papers for each subject, for which there are deadlines. Year One's twelve subjects must be completed prior to commencing Year Two, and the same with Year Three. Through cross-crediting, this course could be a stepping stone to degree courses, but this is yet to be finalised at time of print. This course should be completed within 36 months of commencement.

2.3 Student Enrolment Requirements

Students must be a minimum of 20 years of age at the time of application to commence the Christian Counselling courses. The minimum age for all other courses is 18 years. They must complete the official "Enrolment and Course Application Form," including providing all requested documentation such as certified copies of their Birth Certificate or Passport as proof of identity. A passport-sized photo is also required. A list explaining what documentation is required (this information can vary between courses), may be found on the relevant Application Form. As mentioned elsewhere, this may also be found on our website for free download.

Exceptions regarding the minimum age of 20 for the Counselling courses may be made at the discretion of the Dean and the Principal together, provided the Applicant:

(a) Is 18 years of age or over;

(b) Supplies a letter of Recommendation from their pastor as to their suitability to study the counselling course; and

(c) Also supplies another letter of Recommendation by a person who has known the Applicant for at least two years, has professional or academic qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Medicine, Psychology, or a related and acceptable field. Both letters must be on official letterheads, and must be originals. There are no formal educational prerequisites or requirements for commencement to study. Diligent and committed study will be required for successful completion.

All courses are in the English language, and it is recommended students have a reasonable spoken and written proficiency in English.

It is expected that students commence JTI courses on the understanding of the objectives shown above, and that successful completion of these courses does not necessarily have the endorsement of particular Christian church or denomination. Our courses are to aid and equip students for useful personal ministry with a Biblical foundation. It is highly recommended that all students should be committed participants in a local church fellowship. It is also recommended students advise their pastor/leaders of their study progress from time to time.

Manuals prescribed for various courses study are included in the costs of the course, and on completion of the course remain the property of the student as a reference tool. Text books are not included in the costs.

2.4 Referees:

Each student must supply the name and contact details of three Referees who are not immediate family members, and who have known them for a minimum of twelve months. One of the Referees must be part of the student's spiritual accountability network, such as their pastor, elder, minister, vicar, priest, etc. A confidential form will be sent to every referee for completion and return prior to a student commencing their course. This is required for any of the courses in the School of Christian Counselling. Referees may be advised of a student's progress in the unlikely event of major difficulty or marked unsuitability for an active role in the counselling ministry by the student.
