11.7 Referees:
Each student doing the Diploma in Christian Counselling and Pastoral Care must supply the name and contact details of three Referees who are not family members/whanau, and who have known them for a minimum of twelve months. One of the Referees must be part of the student's spiritual accountability network, such as their pastor, elder, minister, vicar, priest etc. A confidential form will be sent to every referee for completion and return prior to a student commencing their course. Referees may be advised of a student's progress in the unlikely event of major difficulty or marked unsuitability for an active role in the counselling ministry by the student.

11.8 Supervisors:
Students doing the Diploma in Christian Counselling and Pastoral Care (or any of the five constituent certificates which go into this) will require to enlist the services of a competent and qualified Supervisor. This should be a professional counsellor, social worker, or similar. If locating a qualified Supervisor proves difficult due to geographic isolation, ask your own church leaders or Jubilee Training Institute for suggestions of a suitable person in your locality. If all else fails and the student is unable to find a supervisor after the above attempts, a trained pastor may fill this role, provided he/she has graduated from a registered Bible College with a minimum of two years full-time study equivalent, subject to Jubilee Training Institute Board approval.

The Supervisor should meet with the student prior to commencing any counselling/ministry. The main purposes will be to establish guidelines, the student's limitations, what to do in emergencies, etc. The Supervisor will be required to sign a Statement of Agreement to provide competent oversight to the student, and will be required to advise Jubilee Training Institute of any major problems and/or lack of suitability of the student to do ministry/counselling. If the Supervisor charges a fee for this supervisory work, (which they may be entitled to do) any costs incurred are the student's responsibility.
